Here are photos of some of the work I really like from my design/ fabrication days.
Got the truck running friday night. Then Saturday, I put tires on some wheels that i like, put them on the car, pulled the seats out, vacuumed out 30 years of gnarlyness, finagled the throttle pedal and throttle cable back together which was surprisingly difficult, got the broken tailgate to open and removed it, put my seat in it, stole my subaru’s battery to get it running again, and finally drove it to the car wash to spruce it up a touch. While driving to the car wash, a mere three blocks away, I discovered: the brakes are scarry to drive worthless, there is a LARGE oil leak, the alternator is not charging the battery, the passenger door doesn’t open from the outside, the steering wheel is gross, the rearview mirror fell off, and there are some serious suspension issues. I really like this truck.
A customer brought a rabbit truck into the shop, after looking into the car we gave them an estimate for repairs. Problem is the estimate was big, it needs a lot. So, I offered to buy the truck off of them. They accepted. This truck is sweet because it has a title! And a diesel motor which, when i get it in good running condition, should be good for 50mpg.
Salta Motorsports gave me a job offer - HOLY SHIT!
New studio
Finished fabricating the Delganey Bridge sculpture for Patrick Marold.
Cut the last piece off of the rabbit and sent it to the crusher.
Spent the extra time last week parting out the rabbit. Took anything and everything that wasn’t bent from the accident. Except one last piece, I want to cut off the rear passenger side wheel arch to replace the rear driver side wheel arch on the truck. Not sure that they are symmetrical, but might as well give it a shot!
Well, its been a while, but I finally took the day off today to work on the old rabbito. Salta is getting sick of it needlessly taking up space in their yard. When I showed up today, I understood why. There are a ton of cars in their back lot. A fair number of their customer’s cars got destroyed via the flash flooding… Bummer sauce…
So I set to work removing all the parts I want to keep. Lame part was, the car does not even come close to rolling… which means I couldn’t put it on a lift. Oh how spoiled I have been. So, didn’t get as far as I wanted, but I pulled the radiator, exhaust manifold and down pipe, front brakes and some other doohickies off. I also got the motor ready to pull first thing after work tomorrow.
